The Principles of the Wireline Core Drilling Rig
The core taking principles of the rope core drilling rig mainly include the following aspects:
Drill pipe and drill bit: Drill pipe is a hollow rod made of high-strength steel with a hollow interior. The drill bit is a key component of a wireline coring drill. It is usually made of rigid material and is used to break and mill formation rocks.
Rope: The rope is an important part of the rope coring drill. Its function is to drag the drill bit underground and connect it to the drill pipe. The rope will reciprocate back and forth between the landing wheel at the drilling wellhead and the top winch to complete the coring effect.
Overshot: After drilling a certain amount of footage that does not exceed the length of the inner core tube, stop the pump and stop drilling. Use a thin wire rope to lower the overshot from the drill pipe from the ground, reach the bottom of the hole, grab the overshot head of the inner core tube, and then lift it up. Disengage the bayonet to separate the inner and outer core tubes, lift the inner core tube from the drill pipe to the ground, and take out the core.
Rotating drill bit: During the drilling process, the drill pipe is fixed to the ground, the rope is tightened, and the drill bit is sent into the ground. When the drill bit reaches the target depth, the rope is released and the drill bit begins to rotate while the drill pipe is pushed downward. As the drill bit rotates, the drill bit core brings samples from underground to the inside of the drill pipe, and then through the drill pipe to the surface.
Bayonet locking: The outer core tube and the inner core tube containing the core are locked by spring bayonet and can also be disengaged and separated. After drilling a certain amount of footage, stop the pump and drill, use an overshot to separate the inner and outer core tubes, take out the core, and then re-throw the inner tube into the drill pipe until the bayonet at the bottom of the hole is reached and the outer core tube is stuck again, and then the flushing is turned on Start drilling and continue core drilling.
